Mama Rose

2nd Flickr Group-52 Weeks:The 2012 Edition
Topic: Surrealism
Mama Rose is firmly planted in the ground as she watches the world move and change around her.

This was a hard topic and definitely something I had never done before, but thank goodness Flickr had some examples of what Surrealism might look like. I'm not really sure how I would have done this picture without Photoshop though.
The current picture is the background, which is the airplane with the smoke trail. To that I added the Rose from a picture I took last year and the Moon from a  picture I took many moons ago! The stars are a cookie cutter stamp from Photoshop. Flattened my layers and added some texture and ta da, my interpretation of Surrealism.

Extreme Detail

2nd Flickr Group-52 Weeks: The 2012 Edition
Topic: Extreme Detail

This week's theme was extreme detail which I interpreted as extreme close-up. However, that is not the kind of picture I took. At the restaurant last night I saw how the brightness of the street lights and the snow falling made such an awesome contrast, I knew that is what I needed to capture. Of course having the Lion statue in the picture made it even more interesting, well at least to me it did. So to add the extreme part in there, I extremely sharpened it in Photoshop, along with some somewhat extreme contrast and posterization. Below is what the original looked like. You may want to click on the picture to make it bigger to get the full effect.

Shadows

Topic: Shadows

I have this spider plant that sits in my office and some how I have kept it alive for many years now. The sun shines in nicely  through the window and makes some wonderful shadows on the cabinet. Of course you know I see a face in there! I'm not sure though, I can see a cat or maybe it's Chicken Little?! Either way, that shadow makes me feel a bit toasty. Wishing I was sitting in that sunbeam right now!

Liquid

2nd Flickr Group-52 Weeks: The 2012 Edition
Week 3: Liquid

Liquid just happens to be the topic for both 52 Week projects, so both pictures are similar. Is that cheating? Who's to say, it is my blog after all.

Here's a bonus picture...

Ice Water

Topic: Liquid

I headed out to the park for some fresh air and to see what kind of melting was going on since it was almost 50 degrees today. The still frozen water of the lagoon had a melted layer on top and it was just as still as it could be. The reflections of the trees and the buildings in the water were absolutely amazing! Then...a few geese flew in. They walked across the ice water, making some small splashes, but mostly gliding along on top of the water, making their way to the edge. Liquid Reflections, how cool!

Fashion Socks

 2nd Flickr group-52 Weeks:The 2012 Edition
Week 2: Fashion

Fashions come and fashions go but this one seems to be sticking around amongst the high-school crowd... mismatched socks. You can even buy a package of mismatched socks at the store. Imagine that!!  This is how it works according to Liz, " you wear a solid colored sock with a patterned sock." At least she has gotten to a point, or maybe it was just for these pictures specifically, where she stays in the same color family. That hasn't always been the case :) !!  Oh to be young again...

Through the Pergola

Topic: Squares

I spent the week looking for squares, looking for something a little out of the ordinary. I didn't want to do SpongeBob Squarepants, I didn't want to settle for crackers and cheese, I wanted something different. I scouted outside but "there are no right angles in nature," as quoted by my daughter. I just couldn't find that something special. When I was out at the park I did notice some squares in the Pergola, and I liked the sky behind it... too bad there weren't a few fluffy clouds up there. I've had this picture most of the week, but I was still searching and then time ran out, my week is over. So here we go,

My Hometown

2nd Flickr group-52 Weeks:The 2012 Edition
Week 1: My Hometown

I had been trying to determine what would best represent my Hometown and the lagoon in the park is what I thought of. This is where we go for walks, to take pictures, to listen to concerts, where we watched the kids play when they were little and older and where even I hung out back in the day! Oh yes! In the summer you can ride the paddle boats, there's one shaped like a dragon, in the fall you come to the Marigold Festival, usually just to eat, and in the winter there's the Winter Wonderland, where you will find Santa in the boat house. The park is a great place to be all year long!
