The week was passing me by and I just couldn't seem to find a good subject for the topic. I had a lunch meeting yesterday and this massive display of creamers was on the table, what fun!

The ferns are beginning to come alive. The side of the house looks like a little field of alien beings coming out of these brown pods all over the ground. I love how they are so tightly curled up and how quickly they uncurl. These little guys are called fronds. Jim tells me that some people cook and eat these. Sounds gross to me!

Here's another, just a little more uncurled.

You may think that I cheated by not taking a paparazzi picture of a person but this little squirrel was so cute! He climbed way up in the tree, thinking he was hiding from me, but I still got him. I used my zoom lens to capture him, so there you go, I did paparazzi this guy!

 

 

But I suppose you could call this paparazzi too...

Green goes Purple

The lilac's are already starting to bloom, can you believe it?! What crazy weather, but I don't mind much... I love that all the flowers are blooming, I love how the sun is shining and I love how everything is turning green again. How can that not make you feel renewed and refreshed. Ahhh, hello Spring!!

A Wrestling Adventure

Off we went, leaving in the wee hours of the morning, heading to Cicero for the

 Girls National Wrestling Meet. Weigh-in was between 8-9.

 

 They get placed in groups by weight and sometimes have to mix weight groups, which is what happened. She ended up wrestling with seniors. Match #1 (Alexandra in Red)

Sometimes you gotta eat a little mat! This girl was tough...

No matter though, Alexandra was determined.

With only seconds on the clock and 5 points ahead, there was no way she could lose now and she knew it.

The Winner!

Alexandra took 3rd. She worked hard for that, got her butt kicked and then kicked butt! Way to go girl!!

Street Photography

~Street photography is a type of documentary photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions and other settings.

 

A bit out of my comfort zone to take pictures of people I don't know so I cheated a bit. He never even saw me coming! Ha! A whole lot of Photoshop went on with this picture but I like it, considering I was in a moving vehicle and using my point and shoot.

Here is another attempt at street photography... 

I heard these kids talking about getting a drink as they passed by me. I assumed they were just going around the corner to the gas station. I waited a long time for them to come back around the corner with their drinks, but they never did :(  I wanted to complete the story with them coming back, hands full of sodas, but they must of headed off to the park instead.  Oh well....

Topic: 1980

In December of 1982 I met Jim. This teddy bear was the first gift I ever got from him.

 In 1986 I graduated from high school.

 In 1988 we were married and this year we will celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary.

The teddy bear is wearing a little orange shirt that says" Be my Honey".

 Isn't that just so sweet...kinda makes your teeth hurt! :)

Musical Week

Elizabeth  has had a very musical last couple of weeks here. First was the audition for the Prairie Winds, then came the audition for the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, next was the Spring Concert at school and finally today, Solo and Ensemble. Though she was not chosen for the first two, it was an amazing learning experience for her and we are so proud!

Solo and Ensemble however, she scored very well and received 1's for both performances. You can watch them above. (Having computer or computer user troubles here, ugh!)
