I Went Walking

Jim and I took a little hike at Lick Creek tonight.

Here are  a few of the things we saw...

Let it Shine

The Fountain

When the girls were little, we would bring them to the fountain. They loved to sit on the edge with their feet dangling in the water, splashing around and getting wet. If they weren't playing in the water then they were either walking on the ledge of the fountain or running around and around and around, trying to scare us half to death because we knew they would fall at any given moment!
Tonight it was just Jim and I who came, watching the other people with their little ones who were running around and one little one who wanted nothing to do with the water at all. How is it that your kids just grow up so fast, right before your eyes and you never even knew it!

Eight Legged Freaks

Still on my movie kick...Eight Legged Freaks, will gross you out and make you laugh! What more do you need in a movie?!

The Mummy

I have 4 movies that I love and will watch over and over and over again!
1.The Mummy
2. Grease
3. Shrek
4. A Christmas Story (Christmas) and/or Hocus Pocus (Halloween)  It's a tie between the two.
Nothing makes me more cozy then to curl up and watch one of these movies!


*Please note...Luvie was not harmed during the mummification process! :0)

Bubble Machine

The goal was to get a picture of the bubbles as they were floating up in the sky, but by the time I was able to get a somewhat good focus on them, they were already on the grass. I think that I need one of those Bubble Machines that shoots out hundreds of bubbles at once!

In My Front Yard

This is what I discovered in my front yard tonight.

A Little Ladybug that had no spots and just wouldn't climb on top of the leaf. 

Fine, but I can still get you!

A Gerber Daisy that looks like it's having a bad day.

And oh yes, the Japanese Beetles are back.

Decisions are never easy to make. Shall I count on a penny to make a decision for me? Hmmm, heads or tails?

A Very Busy Butterfly

This guy was so busy getting his nectar that he didn't even notice us.

His wings were fluttering so fast!

 

I spotted one in my yard last year while looking through my kitchen window. At first I thought is was a hummingbird, the way it moved around so quickly and how fast the wings were moving. But it wasn't, it was a very busy butterfly!

Green

Green is my favorite color and right now my yard is full of green. In fact, if you just stop and look around you will see green everywhere! Green grass, green trees, green flowers getting ready to bloom. Green ferns, green hostas, green, green, green. :9)

Just something that caught my eye.

Boggle

 Boggle is not a game that I am particularly good at. The shake of the box, the flip of the timer, the utter panic! Stop the timer! I can't go that fast! Too....much....pressure! Oh no, time's up.

Is this what is referred to as a uni-brow? I think I need a spa day...

Dolly is playing peek-a-boo with me..very serious, just waiting for her chance to pounce! Oh Dolly, you are such a little monster, but we love ya!!

Just Hiding Here

The Trumpet Vine is blooming! A gorgeous flowering vine that seems to be taking over the side of my house. It is suppose to attract Hummingbirds but I haven't seen any yet. What I have seen on the vine though, are ladybugs. This poor little guy thought he was safe and sound for the night, then all of a sudden there were these flashes of light! What is going on here!

If I just stay still, maybe it will go away...

Okay little ladybug, I will go away now. Night, night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite!

The Head Dancers

Might be a little far fetched, but I see a smile over here in the top left corner. Yep, just go with it :0)

Storm Clouds

Finally the rain is coming. It has been so hot, I am thankful for this rain to help cool us down. Right now it is just a light rain with thunder and lightning up in the clouds. The heavy stuff is suppose to come later tonight. The dog however, is not thankful. He is hiding in his usual hiding place behind Grandma's chair. Poor ole' Jack, he just hates it when it rains.

Cone Flower and a Bug

The flowers are blooming all around me, even ones that we never planted!

While I was out taking pictures tonight, I noticed this little white fluff floating around the trumpet vine. I saw it land on a leaf and just hang there. Then out of the corner of my eye, I swear I saw it move purposefully. I pulled the vine a little closer to me and checked out this little white fluff and discovered it was a bug!

It moved rather quickly so I didn't get the best shot. Pretty cool little bug though! Or was it a bug......

Audition

My nephew auditioning for Pekin's Got Talent. He's got a lot of talent, singing and acting. He's gonna be rich and famous one day!

Lighting a Tiger

A Tiger Lily that is :0)
Jim and I headed outside around 9 tonight armed with the tripod and a flashlight. He held the flashlight in various spots while I took the picture. This one is from the side, aiming slightly on top of the tiger lily petals. I like the way the light highlights the stamens.

This one is where he held the flashlight from underneath. I like the way the light shines through the petals but would like to see more definition of the stamens. Unfortunately the mosquitoes thought it was dinner time so this experiment was cut short. I am eager to give it another try.  When we do, I'll make sure to get the bug spray first!

A Little Swirly

Tonight was the last photography class. We went to Bradley Park where we photographed this little water fall. Playing around with the shutter speed created this sweet little swirly!

Birthday Pie

We waited to celebrate Jim's birthday until we got back from vacation. Jim prefers birthday pie to birthday cake.

Family

Took a walk around the lagoon tonight with my sister and the girls. The clouds were dark and it began to sprinkle. But it was just a soft sprinkle so we didn't mind and the ducks seemed to be enjoying it too. Eventually it began lightning off in the distance and some rumbles of thunder followed. Time to go and get some ice cream!

Shadows of a Water Bug

Yeah! I am caught back up!!!

Jim and I went out for a walk at the park today and wandered down to the creek. As we were wading through I noticed these little water bugs on top of the water swimming all around. But what really struck me was the wonderful shadows they were making on the creek bottom. Shadows are cool!!

The PCHS Dragons

The Pekin Community High School band was given the opportunity to make a Cd. What a wonderful treasure that will bring back wonderful memories when she is older.

Heading for Home

It is time, home sweet home. We had to stop and take Elizabeth's picture next to the Elizabethtown sign. We drove thru this town every time we went somewhere.

We also stopped at the Pink Elephant Antique Mall in New Douglas... just as they were closing. Loved the giant statues. You can see them from the highway.
